1998 – 84 x 84 cm – linen canvas, brushed acrylic paint, glass beads, acrylic resin.
The work is an experiment in perspective and tactile sensation. A combination of reality and fantasy.
It is partially a bas-relief, given the presence of glass, but it is certainly not intended to be a precise map. We have a “Galilean” vision with the lunar surface as variegated as the Earth’s.
The color blue is unusual for the side that always faces Earth, but it is appropriate for the time when the Moon is in its first or last phase and reflects the color of the Earth with its blue oceans. This blue light is noticeable in the shadowed part of the crescent moon.
